How to renew, step by step

- Sign in to the GCMB Licensure Gateway and open Renewal under the Physician tab.
- Answer the CME compliance and professional boundaries questions.
- Pay $230 by the last day of your birth month.
- Confirm the renewed expiration date in the Gateway or on license verification.
What renewal asks for besides CME
- A one-time 3-hour Category 1 course on controlled substance prescribing, for DEA holders who prescribe.
- A one-time 2-hour course on professional boundaries and sexual misconduct, for all physicians.
- For pain clinic physicians without pain or palliative certification: 20 of the 40 hours in pain management or palliative medicine.
- Re-verification of lawful presence at each renewal for non-U.S. citizens.
Licenses from the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
For a Compact-issued license, the board says you renew through the IMLC Commission first, then complete the GCMB renewal application without paying again; staff apply your IMLC payment. The license still renews every two years by the end of your birth month.
