Florida medical license renewal
Florida MD licenses expire January 31 every two years and DO licenses March 31 of even years. CE must be reported in CE Broker before the license can be renewed. Here are the fees, the extra renewal items and the steps, from both boards' own pages and Florida statute.

| CME | 40 / 2 years. Full Florida CME rules |
| CME reporting | CE Broker. By statute the license cannot be renewed until CE requirements are met. |
| Late or expired | An unrenewed license becomes delinquent; practicing on it violates Florida law. After expiration the fee rises (MD $705, DO $805), and rises again after the board's 120-day delinquency notice (MD $1,060, DO $1,210). A license not made active or inactive during the cycle it went delinquent becomes null. |

How to renew, step by step
- Report all CME in CE Broker for the 2-year cycle: 40 hours, plus Florida's required topics. See Florida CME requirements.
- Update your Practitioner Profile and confirm your fingerprints are on file (Level 2 screening; retained prints last 5 years).
- Sign in to MQA Online Services and choose Renew My License.
- Complete the Financial Responsibility form and the Physician Workforce Survey, and confirm NICA assessment status.
- Pay before the deadline (midnight Eastern on the expiration date) and confirm the new expiration date on license verification. Compact licensees pay the renewal fee through the IMLC portal instead (see below).
What renewal asks for besides CME
- Practitioner Profile update.
- Financial Responsibility form (malpractice coverage or an allowed alternative).
- Physician Workforce Survey.
- Level 2 background screening: LiveScan fingerprints, or retention of current prints ($43.25 when retention expires during the cycle).
- Compliance with, or exemption from, the NICA assessment.
- MD only: practice or active teaching for 2 of the preceding 4 years, or pass the SPEX.
Licenses from the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
Compact-issued Florida licenses renew in two steps, in this order: submit the Florida renewal in MQA first, paying only the dispensing fee there if it applies, then pay the Florida renewal fee through the IMLC Commission's portal by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on the expiration date. The Commission adds $25. The Commission says Florida MDs should then watch for renewal instructions from the Department of Health.
